German Painter, 1858-1925 German painter and writer. He grew up on his family's farm and tannery. As a child he showed interest in art, taking informal lessons in drawing from a local carpenter and caricaturing his primary school teachers. Corinth's father sent him to secondary school in the nearby city of K?nigsberg (now Kaliningrad), where he lived with his widowed aunt. A superstitious woman fond of story-telling, she possessed what Corinth later described as a coarse temperament and an unrestrained, 'demonic' humour. German critic. He worked as a diplomat in Paris from 1749. Influenced by the Encyclopedists, he favoured the use of the Italian style in French operas (especially those of Rameau); in the Querelle des Bouffons of the 1750s he rejected all French music in favour of Rousseau, writing the satirical tract Le petit proph??te de Boehmischbroda (1753) and other works. He was a friend to the visiting Mozart family, 1763-4 and 1778.

January Suchodolski
(September 19, 1797 - March 20, 1875) was a Polish painter and Army officer. Suchodolski was born in Grodno and was the brother of Rajnold Suchodolski. From 1832 to 1837 Suchodolski studied in Rome, where he was a pupil of Horace Vernet. Suchodolski became known for his history and battle paintings. He died in Bojmie (near Siedlce).
